If you're planning a trip to Australia or exploring your own country
put a few days aside in your travel diary for Queensland's Capricorn
Coast.
Several hundred kilometres north of Brisbane, the Capricorn Coast is
home to an array of breathtaking beaches and incredible
natural landscapes.
Tha area's also the gateway to some of the most beautiful islands anywhere in the
world! The islands are a great place to stay, offering everything from
world class resorts to camping sites, all located on the
southern ends of the reef. Whether you prefer to laze on the golden
sands with a cocktail or snorkelling in among the colourful coral and
marine life you won't be disappointed.
Back on the mainland of the coast you might stumble across a quiet
beach town or two. The spectacular Agnes Waters and Seventeen Seventy
are famous for their untouched beaches and tranquil setting.

The coasts largest town is Rockhampton. With plenty of hotels, motels,
backpackers and restaurants, Rockhampton is perfect for a rest and a
good meal while exploring the regions many attractions.
West of Rockhampton you will discover the region's gemfields - towns
resplendent with names such as Emerald, Anakie and Rubyvale.
The national parks of Carnarvon Gorge and Blackdown Tableland are also
within striking distance, and provide a lush and tropical
escape from a landscape which is home to some of the best sunsets
you'll see anywhere in Australia.
